Project Title: Airworthiness Accreditation
Industry commonly produces military-type aircraft at their own expense, in an effort to market these aircraft to the Air Force, DoD, and foreign governments. This private investment is critical to America’s military readiness, even though the United States Government may not have an immediate need for these aircraft. In cases where a U.S. military need does not exist, it is in our nation’s best interest to provide reasonable support for American industry to be able to sell these aircraft to foreign nations. These aircraft are called Non-Defense Military Aircraft (NDMA). However, there is currently no method for industry to pursue a U.S. military-type airworthiness evaluation for NDMA without entering into the Foreign Military Sales process. Allowing commercial entities access to taxpayer-funded infrastructure, at a reasonable cost, will encourage them to make investments in their sector of industry and foster a robust industrial base that meets the highest standards of national security preparedness.
